ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE PASTOR OF OUR LADY OF LAVANG PARISH UPDATE DOCUMENT FOR PHASE II

Dear Our Lady of Lavang’s parishioners in Christ,
Due to the improving data related to COVID-19 situation in our great state of Arizona, the bishop Edward Wiesenberger of the Tucson diocese has announced that our church may safely enter phase II opening protocols.
The schedule of our Masses will be the same as follow:
• Saturday: 6:00pm
• Sunday: 9:00am and 11:00am
• Mon-Fri: No Masses, church is closed
In conforming to the guidelines of the Tucson diocese and recommendation of the CDC, this letter will address the protocols and procedures in Phase II opening as follow to keep our parishioners reasonable safe from the potential spreading of COVID-19.
First and foremost, the Sunday Mass Obligation is still suspended indefinitely for all people living, or visiting the Tucson diocese.
If you choose to stay at home, online Masses are readily available in Vietnamese language: http://www.vietcatholic.net/, or many others. Please continue to pray the Rosary, doing good deeds according to our Catholic faith.
 Please note that there is an inherent risk, regardless of age or health, in attending any public event. This includes religious services. While we are working to reduce the risk, there are no risk-free situations. A parishioner’s presence at a public event constitutes his or her understanding and acceptance of this essential level of risk.

It is very important that we are strictly adhering to the protocols and procedures of the Phase II opening listed below:
 DURING MASS
1. Those 65 years old and above, and those, who in vulnerable classification or with chronic health conditions, are strongly urged to stay at home and not come into church.
2. Those who are sick or ill in any ways, please remain at home.
3. The maximum capacity of our church is 65 persons, including the priest and ministers staff.
Please do not enter the church when “The church is full” sign is posted.
4. Face masks are required to be worn at all time inside the church, with the exception of the presiding Priest of the Mass, and children under 6 years old. Presiding Priest will wear face mask before and after the Mass.
5. Obey all signage posting in church, including social distance law, one way traffic direction.
6. All doors are to remain open during Masses. Please do not close or touch door handles.
7. All parishioners will enter the church by the front door, and exit by the 2 sides doors inside the church. Please obey all directions given by the church ministers.
8. Every other pew will be taped off, not to be used. One family can use the whole single pew, 1 pew can only accommodate 2 single people or 2 couples, sitting at both ends of the pew
9. There will be NO holding hands to others while saying Our Father prayer.
10. There will be NO hymnals books and missaletes in the church. There will be NO congregational singing, as well as choir singing. We may have one or two cantors observing social distance from one another and the congregation.
11. Please use the money-collection baskets near the entrance door, or the 2 side-exit doors to drop in your stipend, donation.
12. The rite of receiving the Holy Communion will take place at the NORMAL time DURING THE CELEBRATION OF THE MASSES, INSIDE OUR CHURCH.
Form a single line to receive Holy Communion, make sure to observe the social-distance. The line will split into 2 when reach the Eucharistic Ministers.
Please stand as far as possible when you reach the Eucharistic Ministers, then extend your arms straight out, cup your hands so the Minister can gently drop in The Eucharist into your cupped palm, never in the mouth.
Please return to your seat after receiving the Holy Communion to continue the celebration of the Mass.
The Eucharistic Ministers who distribute Holy Communion must wear face masks and make generous use of hand sanitizer.
Anyone wishes to receive The Eucharist, ONLY after they have attended Mass online, can come into the church during this time. Please exit the church immediately after received The Eucharist, using the 2 side-doors only. For those cannot make it at normal place in the celebration of the Mass, they can make an appointment with the Pastor to receive the Eucharist.

 COMMUNION and VISTATION to THE SICKES and DISABLES (SHUT-IN)
This will be judged on a case-by-case basic by the Pastor of the church. If provided, the Eucharistic minister may not enter into the home, but stand at the door to distribute The Eucharist to the recipient only.

 HOLY WATER DISTRIBUTION:
If requested, the Holy Water can be dispensed to the individual for use at home.

 SACRAMENT of PENANCE:
Sacramental Penance will be made by appointment only. The confession will be inside our church, one person at a time with the Priest. Face Mask must be used by Celebrant and the Priest.

 FUNERALS and WEDDINGS:
In Phase II opening, the numbers of people, who wish to attend the events, will be limited by the maximum seating of our church (65 persons). Funerals and weddings will follow the same protocols as Sunday Masses especially as its pertains to maximum seating in the Church, music, etc.

 BAPTISMS:
The number of attendees will limit to twenty (20) persons, seating arrangement will follow our protocol of Sunday Masses.

 BEFORE AND AFTER MASSES CLEANING (including Sunday Mass, Weddings, Funerals, and Bastisms)
Our parish will use a combination of disinfectants and cleaner solutions per the Tucson Diocese’s maintenance, and the CDC guidelines.
All volunteers are required to wear facemask and appropriate PPE, to be provided by the parish.

• Disinfect microphones mouthpiece and stem with Lysol Disinfectant spray or wipe*
• Clean and disinfect all restrooms fixtures, faucets, handles, counters, light switches, dispensers, using bleach/water mixed**
• Disinfect doors and hardware – door frames, glass, handles, and knobs, using soap/water mixed***
• Disinfect light switches, door opener switches, using soap/water mixed***
• Sanitize wood pews* (seats, pew backs, and top rails) – using dish soap/water mixed***
• Sanitize upholstery (will be covered in plastic sheet) on kneeling pews or chairs with beach/water mixed**
• Sanitize ambo and lecterns using soap/water mixed***
• Mop the floors with Lysol/water mixed*
*Lysol spay/wipe if commercially available; or mix 1tbsp Pine-Sol / 1qt water
**1/3 cup bleach / gal water
***1/2 tsp dish soap / gal water or 5 drops dish soap / qt water
